America- Ventura Highway Tabbed by Baddguitar Here is an easier version of Ventura Highway. When America plays this song live, they use 3 acoustic guitars. One for the Riff melody, one the Riff harmony and the third for the chords. This arrangement is for one guitar. Using a capo on the 2nd fret will allow the player to play the song in the correct key but offers some easier open chords to play.
Nomatter what fret you have the capo on, when you play a G chord shape, so in your mind you will always think of it as a G chord. This is a G chord shape. If you were to capo the guitar at the 2nd fret and play a G chord shape, then the chord sound would be that of an A chord. This is the main idea of using a capo.
Yousimply need to play the chord shapes as indicated in the tab. They will sound higher with the capo. So, e.g., with the capo on the 2nd fret the C shape you play will sound like a D chord, and this is exactly the purpose of the capo. The Em chord will sound like F#m, which would normally (i.e. without capo) be played as a barre chord.
Thiswill give you an equivalent tuning of GDGCDG capoed on the 2nd fret or AEADEA. In this video, I'm using the short cut capo to capo strings 5, 4, and 3 on the second fret to play with a tuning in the same intervals as DADGAD or GDGCDG but on capo 2 so no retuning is necessary. For standard guitalele tuning, you can set the tuner to
GG/F# We can't get back again. Em G/F# You can't get back again. G She takes a drink and then she waits, G/F# The alcohol it permeates. Em G/F# And soon the cells give way, and cancels out the day. [Chorus] G Dsus4 Em G/F# I can't keep it all together. G Dsus4 Em Cadd9 (It's the wound, stuck underneath the moon.)
Theimportant thing to know when using a capo for transposing open chords on your guitar is that capos can exert a lot of pressure on the strings. Even more than you could with your fingers. Excessive pressure before any fret can pre-bend the strings causing them to sound slightly out of tune. This is a phenomenon that happens irregularly among
